The rest of the game belonged to Texas reliever Tanner Witt.  The Freshman RHP pitched the final 5.2 innings and shut down the Tennessee offense to win the game for Texas.  He allowed only 3 hits and 0 runs over the span to get the win.

Mississippi St vs Virginia

Mississippi State was held hitless for 7 innings but erupted for 6 runs in the 8th inning to stun Virginia and win the game 6-5.

Virginia took an early lead, scoring 1 in the bottom of the first on an infield single from RF Kyle Teel.  They added 3 more in the bottom on the next inning.  CF Chris Newell had an RBI double and came home to score on a double from 3B Zack Gelof.  An infield single from 2B Max Cotier brought Gelof home.

Meanwhile, the Cavaliers starting pitcher Griff McGarry was dominating Mississippi State hitters.  He held the Bulldogs hitless for 7 innings, striking out 8 in the process.  But in the 8th inning, Mississippi State came alive.  DH Kellum Clark blasted a 2 run homer with one out, ending McGarry's night.  A few batters later, RF Tanner Allen launched a 3 run home run to give the Bulldogs a 5-4 lead.  The final run of the inning came on an RBI single from 2B Scotty Dubrule.

Virginia answered with a solo home run in the top of the 8th from Newell to get within one run at 6-5.  But that is as close as they would get as Mississippi State closer Landon Sims came in the get the final 4 outs and preserve the win.
