Stanford vs. Vanderbilt
In Wednesday's elimination game, Vanderbilt beat Stanford 6-5 in a wild finish, scoring 2 runs in the bottom on the ninth to complete the comeback.
Stanford started strong and controlled the early part of the game. They got on the board in the top of the 1st inning via a line out from CF Brock Jones which scored LF Eddie Park. The Cardinal went up 2-0 after a solo home run from Jones in the top of the 3rd inning. They added 2 more runs in the top of the next inning on a bases loaded walk to Park followed by an infield single from Jones.
Vanderbilt finally got the bats going in the bottom of the 4th inning and scored 2 on a home run from 1B Dominic Keegan to make the score 4-2 Stanford. The Cardinal answered in the top of the 6th inning, adding another run on a double from Jones. Vanderbilt came right back in the bottom of the inning, scoring 2 runs on RBI singles from DH Tate Kolwyck and 2B Parker Noland to make the score 5-4 Stanford at the end of 6 innings.
The game remained scoreless from that point until the bottom on the 9th. Down to it's last out, Vanderbilt LF Javier Vaz drew a walk. Next, PH Spencer Jones reached on an infield single to short and a throwing error allowed Vaz to advance to third base. CF Enrique Bradfield Jr. followed with a single to score Vaz and tie the game. Jones scored the winning run on a wild pitch to give Vanderbilt the 6-5 victory.
